The Boy is Officially a Toddler!

How do I love thee, let me count the ways…this is what goes through my head when this sweet little guy comes charging at me to hurl himself towards me from just too far away and I have to catch him or else a fat bruise will suddenly appear on his handsome little face. He’s usually smiling (albeit sometimes, crying) along with a scrunchy nose and an excited, yet rapid, breath. Then comes my favorite, he lays his cheek on my shoulder or buries his head in my neck. It’s just for a moment, and I think how lucky I am to have this little dude in my life.

He’s such a boy and I’m still adjusting. Each day is filled with climbing towards a new adventure which usually ends up in a tumble, hit head, frightening fall or lots of giggles and a huge smile. Either way, he’s a joy.

I’m an entire month late on this post, which is a bummer for me, but it happens. These days I have stopped beating myself up about these things. We went on vacation and I’m still not through the thank you cards for his birthday party, but we are enjoying one another. Our family feels right.

His milestones are soaring by, he’s walking backwards and almost running. Learning to walk backwards was a treat for all of us, it’s something he loves to do and will smile as he’s taking small steps back. Yesterday, he leaned in for a kiss, it was amazing! A real quick jab at my face with his, then the second attempt he got all the way and hit my lips with his with a huge smile. My heart melts as I type this. He, also, said “nite-nite” (ni – ni) right afterwards; his other words are Momma, Dada, thank you (tan tu), more (muh). Plus, he’s finally starting to use some sign language! Normally he will tell us if he’s hungry, sometimes we get a wave of “all done”.

Naps are still around and he’s sleeping pretty well. We have bad nights, but all around he does well. His #7 tooth has pretty much grown completely in while #8 has fully poked through. Whew – maybe thats the occasional wake up? We can always hope!

Finally, his hair is growing in nicely. We have curls in the back, small and SUPER cute! Along with the color becoming more and more of a caramel. He looks so much like his sister, it’s kinda weird.

Life is pretty good these days.

Ok, now onto the stats!

Weight: 20.7 oz (35%)
Length: 30.5 in (75%)
Head Circumference: 47.5 cm (81%)

So, if you’re keeping track he went from 95% in height to 75%. The nurse was confused, but brushed it off until I pointed out that he measured smaller last time. She measured him again and that is where we got the number you see here. Looks like he’s tall, but not monster tall. I’ll take it and, of course, that big brain of his!

Since I’m sure you’re all dieing to see pictures of this little stud I’ll get onto it. I was able to attempt at recreating pictures from L.L.’s first birthday photoshoot. Momma was happy.
