The Paper Anniversary

May 11, 2012 by gwendolyn | 0 comments

On April 30th, 2012 we celebrated our one year wedding anniversary — YAY!

It’s been a magical year, to say the least. It’s amazing to me how right life can turn out. I’m one lucky lady and fall asleep each night so grateful for the blessings I have. We celebrated with the whole family: each other, L.L. and Domingo. Since it’s a bit like rolling the dice on going out to eat, we decided to stay in and order take out sushi. It was perfect — romantic, relaxing, delicious and special.

I got a lovely card, gorgeous flowers (with some of our wedding flowers!) and tickets to see Delta Spirit. This is exceptional because it’s the one band we both discovered together and love, together. My husband is the greatest and very creative, if you ask me. I’m not good with anniversaries, but he knew it was the one where it’s a paper gift. How remarkable is it that he printed out concert tickets on paper, as my gift!? (If you know me well, you know how “on the nose” that is for me.)

Pinch me! ‘Cause this magnificent life I lead, sure doesn’t feel real.

The Day Of Love

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Tulips for Love

Yesterday, I was surprised by a beautiful bouquet of tulips from my thoughtful husband. I was overjoyed! Today, I still want to take pictures and stare at them.

Obviously, I like Valentine’s Day. I don’t get bogged down with the “Hallmark Holiday” remarks or the “fake holiday” comments. I agree, it’s not a day we need to celebrate, but isn’t it nice that we can? We all mean to make our partners or family members or friends feel loved, but does that really happen everyday? For most, I think not. So, it’s nice to have a day dedicated to it. A day that makes us aware it’s the small things that give your eyes a sparkle.

My husband and I don’t go out, but we do plan a special meal at home and just enjoy making the other one feel special. For me, that is the point, and I love it!

Now, get out there and make someone feel good about themselves. It doesn’t have to be a day that’s only for couples, either. It’s what you make of it and I say make the most out of it, because love is something to be shared.
